Ready Russian: Language Generator 10—Хотеть (To Desire)

This universal language generator shows you how to say that someone wishes to do something or wishes that someone else would do something. In the later case we use the conjunction “чтобы” to join the part about the wishing to the part about the doing.

If the person wants to perform an action himself, use a verb in the infinitive.

To say that one person wishes for another to perform an action we use the conjunction “чтобы” followed by a complete sentence describing the desired action.

Contrary to what English speakers expect, the verb in this second sentence must be in the past tense.
